Qi ZHENG
My name is Qi (Mione) ZHENG, a Ph.D. candidate in the Advertising and Public Relations Department at Michigan State University. With over eleven years of experience in the communication academia and industry, including roles in advertising and media, I identify as both a researcher and educator in strategic communication and public relations. I am still on my way to an actual "doctor"!
My research, teaching, and professional experiences position me to address communication challenges (e.g., crisis communication and relationship building) in the organizational setting. These challenges include managing relationships with citizens, leveraging social media and AI technologies, responding to crises, launching advocacy, and engaging public employees.

My central research question is: How can organizations communicate ethically, responsibly, and effectively with stakeholders across different contexts, including crises? Taking an international perspective, I am especially interested in public sector communication, particularly how governments can respond ethically to citizens during crises, tensions, and hazards. I am a mixed-methods social scientist with a strong focus on quantitative methods, including surveys, experiments, and computational methods.

I am currently on the job market. If my research is of interest, feel free to connect!
